ATELIER
2018年にオープンした東京・初台に事務所を構える古書店「アトリエ」。現在は完全予約制で、不定期でオープンデーを開催しています。デザイン、タイポグラフィ、美術、写真集といったアートブックの販売、買取を行うほか、催事会場やギャラリーなどでポップアップを企画し出店、選書も行っています。
ただ商売として本を売り買いするのではなく、何かが新しく生まれる場所、未知の感受性に触れてわくわくするような感覚を発信できる場所にしたいと思いながら、国内外の貴重なアートブックを蒐集しています。

Detail Type Foundry
デザインスタジオ Kamimura & Co. によって2018年に設立されたタイプファウンドリー。一般向けタイプフェイスの企画・制作・販売のほか、ブランドや企業とのカスタムタイプフェイスの開発も積極的に行っている。カスタムタイプフェイスによる主な協働は、Goldwin、Play Earth、Spiber、The North Face、Yamaha Motor（GK Graphics との協働）など。今回のフェアでは「Norm」シリーズの書体見本帳を展示・販売します。

PARTNERS
kontaktのクリエイティブディレクターである川島拓人が編集長をつとめる関係性をテーマにする雑誌のPARTNERS。2017年にはユルゲン・テラーと息子のエドが表紙を飾った#01を創刊し、2019年には#02を。そして2025年には6年ぶりとなる#03が刊行。#01と#02の装丁や判型をはじめ、作り方全てを刷新した#03では、”WHY BE TOGETHER？”という根源的な問いに対して写真家から映画監督、さらには建築家から冒険家などの計33名が答える構成となっている。主なコントリビューターには、マイク・ミルズ（映画監督）、川内倫子（写真家）、原美樹子（写真家）、ジル・クレマン（庭師）、ASSEMBLE（建築家）、バハラ・シッカ（写真家）、桑田卓郎（陶芸家）など。

Session1『タイプデザインとタイプファウンドリー』

日本のタイプデザインの現場でそれぞれ独自の歩みを続ける3人が集い、タイプファウンドリーとしての実践を通じて見えてきた課題や展望、そして「文字をつくる」という営みの未来について語り合います。

Session2『タイポグラフィの現在とこれから』
大林寛（OVERKAST / ÉKRITS）、古賀稔章（武蔵野美術大学准教授）、神村誠（Kamimura&Co. / Detail）
登壇者の3名がいま関心を寄せている本や資料を持ち寄り、参加者とともにテーブルを囲んでページをめくりながら、視覚文化における文字表現の可能性を探ります。実物を前にした対話を通して、タイポグラフィの現在地を見つめ、未来について考察します。

Session3『かたちのない文字を読む』
桑田光平（PARTNERS）、柴田准希（PARTNERS）、神村誠（Kamimura&Co. / Detail）
関係性をテーマにする雑誌PARTNERSの編集チームをゲストに迎え、文字を使ったコミュニケーションから、文字が介在しないコミュニケーションまで、「type」という観点からタイポグラフィについて考えます。

鈴木功
タイプディレクター / Type Project 代表。1993-2000年までタイプデザイナーとしてアドビシステムズ株式会社に勤務。2001年にタイププロジェクト設立。AXIS Font、TPスカイ、TP明朝、TPゴシック、純明朝、金シャチフォントなどの制作ディレクションを行う。コーポレートフォント、都市フォント、四季フォントなど次世代フォントの開発を進めている。武蔵野美術大学、多摩美術大学、愛知県立芸術大学講師。

古賀稔章
1980年福岡県北九州市出身。武蔵野美術大学芸術文化学科准教授。デザインやタイポグラフィを主軸とした研究、実践、批評に取り組む。慶應義塾大学環境情報学部卒業、タイポグラフィ・スクール新宿私塾1期生、東京大学大学院総合文化研究科博士課程満期退学。雑誌「アイデア」の編集者を務めたのち、経済産業省特許庁にてデザイン行政に従事し、多摩美術大学非常勤講師を経て現職。2023年、学内に印刷機リソグラフを導入して実験的な出版活動を探求するプロジェクトBrook Pressを創設。訳書にヨゼフ・ミューラー゠ブロックマン『グリッドシステム』（2019）、アーミン・ホフマン『グラフィックデザインマニュアル』（2025）がある。

桑田 光平（PARTNERS STUDIO / 東京大学総合文化研究科教授）
1974年生まれ。文学博士（フランス・ソルボンヌ大学）。フランス語圏の近現代文芸が専門。教育や建築文化に関する官民との共同研究にも従事。文化庁・建築文化フェロー。興味のおもむくまま研究しながら、ヒトやモノとの出会いに巻き込まれ、身を任せながら漂流する日々。2025年4月からPARTNERS STUDIOにジョイン。

柴田 准希（PARTNERS STUDIO）
1997年生まれ。大学院ではバイオメカニクス（生体力学）を専攻し、人間の身体構造を研究する過程で、身体と身体のあいだに生まれる「関係性」に興味を持つ。卒業後、「関係性」を軸に、雑誌、映像、展示など多様な領域を横断するPARTNERS STUDIOにジョイン。

神村誠
1989年生まれ。デザインスタジオ Kamimura & Co. 代表。クリエイティブディレクター、デザイナー。2018年に Kamimura & Co.と Detail Type Foundry を、2024年には Detail Research Center (DRC) を共同設立。アイデンティティ開発やクリエイティブディレクションを主軸に、細部から全体への広がり、環境の構築に重きをおいたデザインを行う。これまでの協働に、Goldwin、Play Earth、Spiber、The North Face、金沢21世紀美術館など。その他、アーティスト、キュレーター、建築家など、他分野のクリエイターとの協働も多い。

ATELIER
ATELIER is an antiquarian bookstore established in 2018 and based in Hatsudai, Tokyo. Currently operating by appointment only, the store also hosts occasional open days. It sells and buys art books spanning design, typography, visual arts, and photography, while also organizing pop-up stores and curated selections at event venues and galleries.
Their aim is not simply to buy and sell books as a business, but to create a place where something new can emerge—a place that evokes excitement by exposing visitors to unfamiliar sensibilities. ATELIER continues to collect rare art books from Japan and abroad.

Detail Type Foundry
Founded in 2018 by design studio Kamimura & Co., Detail Type Foundry develops, produces, and sells typefaces for general use while also actively creating custom typefaces for brands and companies. Major collaborations include Goldwin, Play Earth, Spiber, The North Face, and Yamaha Motor (in collaboration with GK Graphics).
At the fair, they will exhibit and sell specimen books for the “Norm” type series.

An online bookstore based in Tokyo. Founded in 2013, North East offers a carefully curated collection of publications sourced from Japan and abroad, ranging from self-published works by artists and designers to books from independent and major publishers, as well as exhibition catalogues from museums and galleries.

PARTNERS
PARTNERS is a magazine exploring the theme of relationships, edited by Takuhito Kawashima, Creative Director of kontakt. The inaugural issue (#01), featuring photographer Juergen Teller and his son Ed Teller on the cover, was published in 2017, followed by #02 in 2019. In 2025, six years later, the long-awaited #03 was released.
For #03, every aspect of the publication—from its format and design to its production process—was completely reimagined. Centered around the fundamental question, “WHY BE TOGETHER?”, the issue brings together responses from 33 contributors spanning photography, filmmaking, architecture, exploration, and beyond. Contributors include filmmaker Mike Mills, photographers Rinko Kawauchi and Mikiko Hara, gardener Gilles Clément, architects ASSEMBLE, photographer Bahar Shika, ceramic artist Takuro Kuwada, and others.

TEA BY ÉKRITS is a tea gathering organized by the editorial team of the design-thought publication ÉKRITS. Through the format of Chinese tea, it offers a space for conversation and reflection. As part of Typography Book Fair 2025, we will host a series of conversations titled Typography Tomorrow, inviting guests from various disciplines to explore the future of typography.

Three practitioners who have each forged distinctive paths within Japanese type design come together to discuss the challenges, possibilities, and future perspectives that have emerged through their work as type foundries, and to reflect on what it means to create typefaces today.

登壇者プロフィール

Isao Suzuki
Type Director and founder of Type Project. Worked as a type designer at Adobe Systems Japan from 1993 to 2000 before founding Type Project in 2001. He has directed the development of numerous typefaces including AXIS Font, TP Sky, TP Mincho, TP Gothic, Jun Mincho, and Kinshachi Font. His work continues to explore next-generation type systems such as corporate fonts, city fonts, and seasonal fonts. He also teaches at Musashino Art University, Tama Art University, and Aichi University of the Arts.

Kazuhiro Yamada
Founder of the design studio nipponia. Typeface designer and book designer. In addition to developing original fonts, he collaborates with foundries in Japan and abroad on a wide range of projects. He is also developing his own font-design application. Lecturer at Joshibi University of Art and Design and Tama Art University.

Hiroshi Obayashi
Founder of OVERKAST and Editor-in-Chief of ÉKRITS. A creative director specializing in experience design and information architecture, he works across concept development, service design, and interface design. His publications include Graphic Design Book Guide, ÉKRITS Library I, and Affordance: A Learning Manga. He has also edited and supervised books such as Towards Making by Sekai Kozuma, Intertwingled, and More-Than-Human. He teaches Experience Design at Toyo Institute of Art and Design and co-hosts the podcast How to Read Design.

Toshiaki Koga
Born in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, in 1980. Associate Professor in the Department of Arts Policy and Management at Musashino Art University. His work spans research, practice, and criticism focused on design and typography. After graduating from Keio University and studying at Typography School Shinjuku Private School, he entered the doctoral program at the University of Tokyo. He worked as an editor for Idea magazine and later engaged in design policy at the Japan Patent Office before joining Musashino Art University. In 2023, he established Brook Press, an experimental publishing initiative centered on risograph printing. His translations include Josef Müller-Brockmann’s Grid Systems (2019) and Armin Hofmann’s Graphic Design Manual (2025).

Kohei Kuwada (PARTNERS STUDIO / Professor, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo)
Born in 1974. Holds a doctorate in literature from Sorbonne University (France). Specializes in modern and contemporary French-language literature while also engaging in collaborative research projects related to education and architectural culture. A Cultural Affairs Agency Fellow for Architectural Culture. He spends his days drifting between research and unexpected encounters with people and ideas. Joined PARTNERS STUDIO in April 2025.

Junki Shibata（PARTNERS STUDIO）
Born in 1997. Studied biomechanics in graduate school, researching human bodily structures. Through this work, he developed an interest in the relationships that emerge between bodies. After graduation, he joined PARTNERS STUDIO, where he works across magazines, film, exhibitions, and other formats, all centered on the theme of relationships.

Makoto Kamimura
Born in 1989. Founder of the design studio Kamimura & Co.,creative director and designer. Co-founded Kamimura & Co. and Detail Type Foundry in 2018, followed by Detail Research Center (DRC) in 2024. His practice focuses on identity development and creative direction, emphasizing the relationship between details and larger systems, as well as the construction of environments. Past collaborations include Goldwin, Play Earth, Spiber, The North Face, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. He frequently collaborates with artists, curators, architects, and other creatives across disciplines.
